Compound Carabiners

Multi-Loop, Multi-Functional Connectors

Compound Carabiners is a speculative exploration of possible alternatives to the standard carabiner to allow for additional levels of specificity. By conjoining multiple separated organizational clips, the aim is to expand their functionality for use in various contexts.

Working with Fusion 360’s Stress Analysis Tools simulate stresses on the carabiner, visualizing them in gradient maps. The profile shape is then iteratively adjusted and re-simulated to achieve an optimized strength to weight ratio.
